Hickory Grove is open year round! Our hours change with the time of year; please call for current hours of operation. We’ve been busy this winter (besides shoveling snow)! Our production greenhouses are cleaned and ready for all the spring plants. We have been growing tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and other potted bulbs to the point where they are just budded and starting to show color. At that point, we then store them in our huge 34° cold storage building (called a cooler). We can hold the bulbs at that stage of development until we are ready to sell them. The greatest demand for bulbs is closer to Easter, but if you just need a burst of spring color now, we’d be happy to accommodate you. We’ve also started planting our famous flowering hanging baskets, flower pouches, patio containers and perennials. Since we plant over 12,000 of our 10” flowering baskets alone, it takes a while to get it all done! We receive weekly shipments of starter plants so that we are always planting fresh material. Seed packets as well as fertilizers, pottery, potting soil, shepherd’s hooks, wind chimes and many other gardening decorations and supplies are now in stock. Speaking of wind chimes, you must check out our Corinthian Bells. These hand tuned chimes are made in the USA and have a 5 year warranty!! What beautiful sounds they make! We always have Euro Gardens (flowering and foliage plants arranged in baskets or pottery) in case you need a gift for sympathy, birthday, anniversary, etc. Gift certificates are available in any amount. Special orders are welcome. Delivery is also available. By the middle of March (barring any snow storms), we’ll start receiving shrubs and trees. Cold tolerant pansies, cool season vegetables, early perennials as well as raspberries, blueberries and other fruit plants will follow. Fresh shipments arrive weekly, sometimes more often. Visit us frequently to see what’s new! At Easter our greenhouse is stocked with bloomers galore. The sights and smells of the spring flowers are much anticipated after the long winter. Tulips, hyacinths, daffodils and other bulbs are able to be put outside even during the earliest of Easters. Azaleas, hydrangeas, florist mums, calla lilies and gloxinias (among others) make excellent gifts and houseplants. Check out the ‘Seasonal’ page for more information. Come visit Hickory Grove. Our knowledgeable staff will be more than happy to help you make an informed plant selection, offer you a remedy for those pesky insects or answer any other questions or concerns you may have. See you soon! |
